It remains to be seen whether or not forward Victor Moses has already made his last appearance for the Latics before his proposed move to Chelsea.
Maloney and McArthur overcame knocks and started the game against Chelsea last week. Both came of in that game as a precaution but should be available to start once again.
Ryo Miyaichi will be hoping for his Wigan debut after missing out last week.
Jack Cork missed the loss at Manchester City on Southampton's return to top-flight football, and is rated as 50-50 to make it in time for this game.
Steven Davis and Rickie Lambert could both start after coming off the bench and grabbing a goal apiece as the Saints pushed the Champions to the wire.
