Cesar Azpilicueta signed for Chelsea on Friday from Marseille, but is unlikely to feature against Newcastle, despite John Terry's neck injury.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will make late checks on skipper Fabricio Coloccini and striker Demba Ba ahead of tomorrow's trip to Stamford Bridge as Cheick Tiote (calf) and Shola Ameobi (hamstring) remain doubts.
Terry's neck injury occurred during Wednesday night's 4-2 victory over Reading so he is unlikely to face Newcastle.
Two clubs who have begun this season where they left off the last. Chelsea, buoyed by their Champions League triumph, lead the Premier League following consecutive wins and six goals in two games.
Most impressive has been the implementation of a new playing style, helped by the mercurial creative talents of Eden Hazard. Newcastle have started with a win against Tottenham, leaving Gary Cahill in no doubt over today’s challenge. “They have two great forwards – it will be one hell of a tough game,” he said.
Stat of the game: Newcastle ended a run of 18 league games without a win at Stamford Bridge when they beat the Blues 2-0 in May 2012.
Prediction: 2-2, Jeremy Wilson.
