John Terry's next step is to decide whether to lodge an appeal over the ban – and a hefty £220,000 fine – which would delay the punishment. An appeal must be lodged within 14 days, during which time he is free to play. If he contests, the ban will kick in with immediate effect.
For now, Terry's next four games will be:
Sep 29: Arsenal (A)
The Chelsea captain will be available to play in the derby at the Emirates in
what is now likely to be a spicy Saturday lunchtime clash.
Oct 6: Norwich (H)
Chelsea hammered a second string Wolves 6-0 without Terry and the former
England defender is unlikely to be missed in another home match here against
struggling Norwich.
Oct 20: Spurs (A)
This White Hart Lane match comes at the start of the Kick It Out week of
action against racism, when players are expected to warm up in campaign
T-shirts.
Oct 28: Man Utd (H)
Chelsea currently lead United by a point at the top of the league and by the
time of this key clash, Roberto di Matteo's will most likely be defending a
winning home run.
Should Terry accept the four-game ban tomorrow, the defender will be back in time for the fouth round League Cup clash against Manchester United on Oct 30/31.
He could also play two Champions League games in the interim.
